A Plan and a People
Sep 8th, 2008 by Gary Chupik
Well. It’s done. Last night I shared the vision for the next 125 days for Emmaus. I think the group was very receptive to the plan. God is building his church. One interesting thought is how dynamic the interplay of a church plant and the book of First Thessalonians is in the Bible.
Paul wrote to the early church in Thessalonica after being there only weeks and was writing to them after being given the steel-toed boot out of the city. His letter is a plea to keep focused on what he had preached. One of the things he wrote was that the people who heard his message were chosen by God to establish the church there. I’m not the type of guy who easily presumes God has called me to do everything I do. But, I know that he has called me, and more importantly, us who call ourselves Emmaus, to plant this church. My prayer is that we will embrace this kind of divine conviction, by faith, to be who God has called us to be… a vibrant, grace-filled, focused group of people who long to be used by God for his glory.
