Is the Glass Half-Empty or Half-Full?

The past three Sundays have been a great three Sundays. In the world of a pastor, you try not to let your highs be too high and your lows be too low. But as a church planter, you learn to celebrate the small stuff! This past week, a local church donated almost $20,000 worth of equipment to Emmaus! While we celebrate God’s goodness to us (half-full), we were sad to hear of another church plant closing (half-empty). In the end though, this other church has blessed so many other churches, but none more than Emmaus. We are grateful to them.
Also, the past 3 weeks have been amazing! From the very beginning, we’ve wanted to be a church for the unchurched, and a home for people who have not been to church in years, or who have had negative experiences in church. Even though we haven’t officially launched, we’ve seen six people decide to follow Jesus, many people renew their comittment to Christ, seven people wish to be baptized (we’ll do that soon!), and many others say they want to serve God by serving at Emmaus!
God is good. Even though we have a long way to go and are making a lot of mistakes, we are depending on God for everything.
